During my second month of nursing school, our professor gave us a quiz. I was a good student and it was an easy exam. However, the last question surprised me. It said: “What is the first name of the woman who cleans the school?” I had seen the cleaning woman several times, but how would I know her name? So I left the last question blank. Just before class ended, one student asked if the last question would count towards our quiz grade. “Absolutely,” said the professor. “In your careers, you will meet many people. All are important. They deserve your attention and care, even if all you do is smile and say ‘hello’.” I’ve never forgotten that lesson. I also learned her name was Dorothy. (by Prof. Simon Smith)

Everyone uses the Internet, right? Well, not according to CNN news. They reported that one in five U.S adults don’t use it at all. The main reason given is that people are just not interested – not even in e-mail or Facebook. In America figures have shown that broadband connection has dropped from a peak in May 2010 which showed that 66% of U.S. adults had access, to recent figures where only 62% of U.S. adults have access at home. Not surprisingly those most without the Internet are mostly older people. So it seems that even something as powerful as the Internet has limits to what it can achieve.(by Prof. Simon Smith)
