My sister works at an elementary school in her neighborhood. The new school year starts at the end of summer in the U.S., and this Monday was the first day. I went to see the school with my sister. As I was walking home, I saw the children arriving with their parents. The school yard was full of excited children and adults. Everyone was saying hello and talking to friends. Some of the children came on foot, but many rode bicycles or scooters. There were no long speeches. The teachers got the children into groups and took them inside to their new classrooms. Glastonbury Festival is the world’s largest outdoor music festival. It is held on a farm in the southwest of England, and this year it went from June 26 to June 30. 135,000 tickets were sold, and music lovers camped on the farm for five days. They had a choice of different kinds of music on many different stages. The festival has had big names like the Rolling Stones, David Bowie and Lady Gaga since it began in 1970. This year, some big names were The Killers, Kylie Minogue, and Janet Jackson. There was also one Japanese band. Can you guess who it was? It was Babymetal. (by Prof. Douglas Jarrell)
