Scientists are developing a new type of fabric that may mean we won’t have to clean our clothes in the future. Recent experiments show that cotton fabric coated with the right mixture of chemicals can dissolve stains and remove bad smells after a few hours in the sun. The new fabric contains chemicals which trigger chemical reactions in light. It is the same chemical that helps sunscreen block the sun and is used as tattoo ink. The new fabric though is not yet safe enough for people to wear and the new technology needs to be tested to be sure that it won’t harm those who wear it. But the scientist who developed the fabric says that he hopes to wear self-cleaning clothes one day and avoid having to do laundry. (by Prof. Simon Smith)

Last night, I listened to a song called “Nothing hurts like love” and heard my friend say that “love is one of the most excruciating pains”. But does love really hurt? When one of my friends broke up with his girlfriend, he said “Love can hurt so bad”. But what really hurts is breaking up, not actually love. When my crush turned me down, I thought “Well, maybe love can actually cause a little pain”. Now though I think that “rejection hurts, but love does not”. And when you have to leave a person you really love, you may think “Why does love have to hurt people?”. But again, that is not love hurting, that is the parting that hurts. Happy Valentine’s day, everybody!
