I’m going to talk about nutrition. When we are cooking or eating something, we almost always think about calories. The main reason we are apt to be conscious of them is the effect of mass media. They tend to praise girls who are all skin and bones. And they always say that high calories are the enemy of dieting. True, we should eat fewer calories, but even so, there is an excessive awareness of controlling calories in the world. As a result, people have a tendency to eat less rice and other grains. However, you should think about the nutritional value of grains. For instance, wheat is the most nutritious of the common grains, containing every amino acid that we need. And rice is low in fat and high in protein, the equivalent of 130cc of milk. Fruit is popular among young women because it is recognized as being good for a diet. But excessive consumption of acidic fruit can wear away tooth enamel. In addition, fruit sugar is almost equal in calories to sugar. So, in my view, the importance of a diet is not only to reduce calories but also to pay attention to nutrition and take into account the importance of a balanced diet.
