Details of sales figures over Christmas 2011 show that despite expectations Samsung may have sold more smartphones than Apple. Although Samsung do not report actual numbers sold, Samsung’s Galaxy S II is reported to have sold between 32 and 35 million smartphones between October and December 2011. According to the latest data in terms of actual figures for the year, it looks likely that Samsung sold between 87.6 million and 94.6 smartphones and Apple between 86 million and 99.6 million iPhones. 2012 could be an interesting year for phone lovers.(by Prof. Simon Smith)
